Bay Area International Business School (BIBS) convened a work meeting on August 24th to prepare for the upcoming autumn semester of 2023-2024. The gathering, held in B310 room, Liyun Building, brought together faculty and staff to discuss and strategize for the semester ahead. The event featured a thought-provoking presentation by Professor Zhang Bohui, Executive Dean of the School of Business and Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Professor Zhang shared insights on "Experience in Establishing a World-Class Business School."
Professor Zhang Bohui's presentation aimed to provide faculty and staff with a comprehensive understanding of the journey toward establishing a world-class business school. He shared key attributes of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, including its distinguished characteristics, the strength of its faculty, noteworthy research accomplishments, and initiatives focused on talent cultivation.
Dean Kong Ying addressed the assembly, offering an insightful overview of BIBS' journey since its establishment. He emphasized the school's mission to uphold high standards, pioneer innovative methodologies, and embrace internationalization. Dean Kong stressed the importance of aligning the school's development with the growth of the Greater Bay Area, with the ultimate goal of becoming a world-renowned institution. He further shared his vision for talent acquisition, teaching methodologies, scientific research, and collaborative development.
Vice Dean Zhong Xin delved into the academic landscape of the 2022-2023 academic year. She emphasized the collective effort needed to elevate teaching standards, refine curriculum content, and employ innovative teaching approaches to enhance classroom engagement. The primary objective for the 2023-2024 academic year is to elevate talent development quality, establish a competitive curriculum system for modern business education, and nurture a cohort of innovative individuals.
Cui Chuantao provided an encompassing view of the school's scientific research management and discipline development efforts for the 2023-2024 academic year. This included managing research projects, facilitating academic exchanges, enhancing disciplines, and implementing research incentive policies.
Wu Liang offered an extensive introduction to the Academic Promotion Committee of the school. He outlined the committee's composition, roles, operational protocols, and development strategies.
Lastly, Chen Yinghui presented a succinct overview of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the school, elucidating the committee's composition, responsibilities, operational guidelines, and development plans.
The meeting culminated in group discussions centered around three key themes: school development positioning and strategic directions, enhancement of teaching standards and quality, and the facilitation of school research efforts. Representatives from each group provided insights and reported on the outcomes of their discussions.
