On June 16-18, Beijing Normal University hosted the First New Era Township Chief Forum and welcomed more than 280 local officials, field experts and renowned guests in rural development at Zhuhai campus. BIBS Associate Distinguished Research Fellow Dr Wu Xiaosong guest-spoke in sub-forum “Digitalization of agriculture industry as drive for modernization of rural revitalization”. Wu declared that the heart of digitalization of agriculture industry is to reduce costs, increase efficiency and relive burdens, managing industry links and exploiting added value of technology. He emphasized that standardization and scaling are key telling signs of a place’s qualification for digitization, as these conditions do not always exist. Wu reminded the audience that informatization and digitization are not identical, and informatization is a prerequisite for agriculture industry digitization.
